Sweet about me

  • ♪Sweet about me- Gabriella Cilmi♪

I had some rough days and I needed a break. Things like this happen and although work and/or learning is very important, you have to know when it's enough and be able to take a break.

That's the tricky part- how to make time for yourself? I don't know, it all depends on several factors but what I do know is that you shouldn't give up on your need and find a way to make it happen. Although some may consider this rather unuseful I have to emphasize on the fact that it does make a difference! Leisure time is something you shouldn't ignore, because it's something you need for your own health.

Please note that I'm talking about those kind of days when you are just super busy and you barely sleep , not about the ones when you 've got plenty of time and you just spend it daydreaming.

I am going through that kind of phase, when everything is just so crowded and important that I can't fit 'time for myself' in the schedule anymore. The day I showcased in the photos above was by chance, completely unexpected. All my plans got cancelled and I rushed to my best friends house and had a blast, with snow fights, good books, a movie, delicious food and a lot of tea...

Now I feel like that day happened months ago. That's right, trapped in the routine again, but this is my promise that somehow I'll find a way to take a break again, as soon as possible.

    Pastel & Feminine

  • Don't you ever feel the urge to stop from your daily routine and feel like a princess?  Picture yourself as Kirsten Dunst played Marie Antoinette, with macarons near you and a fluffy dress, pink everywhere and "I want candy" playing in the background?

Although it's not really my style, I don't see anything wrong in pink, pastel tones and some feminine accents. I  have spent this kind of day with one of my best friends, who has now her dream room..and the most gorgeous Manoush dress!

The fabulous zip from the Manoush dress. Sparkles and glitters everywhere!

    Fabulous ruffles!

    Pretty florals and mixmatched morals!

I wish you all an amazing weekend, full of love and sparkling moments!

But I’m gonna be warm (ho ho) this winter

    By: Bee On: 7:33 AM

  • Knit from Zara I've been wearing like crazy last winter.

I don't know what's the weather like in your country or town, but here it is totally different from the last week. I cannot beleive the substantial change, it is raining all day long and I feel the urge to look for my gloves.
Winter is aproaching, I know for sure but there is a positive side for the fashion obsessed people like me: sweaters, trenches and all the scarves to match them with! Not to mention the berets or the oversized hats!

You are going to think I'm crazy for already planning my wardrobe for this winter, but that's just in my nature! In august , I knew already that I was going to wear red, leopard and snake prints this autumn and now I know what I am wearing this winter: crazy prints&knitwear!
And, as I am always pretentious I want some new boots, to have my dream selection from head to toe. after searching high and low all over the city I have found my perfect ones *drum rolls*...online , at Joe Browns:

What's not to love about them? I can choose the lenght to wear them at, and look at that print, just what I was looking for! When I first came across to the web page, they won me over with the design! And the name, I was so curious that I actually clicked the "About us" page after I saw these precious boots. I only came across to a very misterious Joe, thing that I find awesome bcause it gives you this thrill, to find out who designs a clothing line so full of life!

It's "a state of mind" they say and, after I looked at the casual clothes selection I got the point. Everything is just so playful and fun, you can actually picture yourself wearing those brilliant colors when all the town is covered in a soft white snow.
These leggings have totally won the "Most amazing print I've seen this month" title in my heart, I love the color combination and the idea so much, just FAB!
And what makes me even more happy of my online discovery is that they delivery to Romania, my country, and pretty much all over the world! I can also tell it's not just this season they're great at designing clothes  because they have an amazing sale going on, featuring some items left from the summer line, which seems to have been just as great as this one.

Joe Browns is definetely an online store to keep on my shopping spots list, can't wait to see their future ideas and collections. I have to go now, to show my mom the boots & hope she won't mind that I don't get to try them on before I actually buy them (you see, she's not into the online shopping that much as I am).
    Have a lovely weekend everyone!

PS: Special thanks to my mom for buying me this amazing lucky charm bracelet- maybe this will sweeten her on the boots matter haha!  x

Sometimes hitting the bottom can be the best thing!!!

  • About fashion blogging

Okay, I'm so sorry I haven't posted more, especially after amazing feedback I have received recently , but you can get so easily distracted on summer holiday ! Anyway, this post is something, I mean if you read carefully and understand it, I really hope it does make a point. The idea came to me while I was doing my holiday homework, 100 problems at physics. I know that at the first sight the picture may seem weird and you might be asking yourself right now: "Is this a blog about science?" but this situation really is similar to fashion blogging, so you'd be better prepaired to focus while reading this:

Okay, for the ones who don't know, the energy, according to classical mechanics, is formed by the Kinetic Energy (E k = it has everything to do with the motion) and  the Potential Energy (E p).

Imagine that triangle above as a slope. You get enthusiastic and you're just hitting the road of fashion blogging, you have a lot of potential , but not so much ability of moving things. Most of you , just like me, start writing a lot on a blog post, being aware that the quality of the pictures is not quite good, or you don't have an appropriate decor. You would love to change it, but as you don't have actual many readers at the beggining you just decide to wait and hope that your writing and your point of view is more important than the visual impact.

This, right here is the resemblance between physics and what we are doing. At first, the potential energy is at it's highest, while the kinetic one is at 0. Here comes the magic thing though: the energy converts. It converts from potential to kinetic, and next thing you know is that the speed is at it's highest.

I like to consider the motion, as the speed as you attract more readers. Yet, this is not everything. I have noticed that most of the fashion bloggers emphasize the pictures as their blog is getting more acknowledged, and tend to write less.Of course, there are a bunch of exceptions, Gala Darling is my favorite. Not only she writes A LOT, but her photos are more expressing than ever!

Still, who could blame them after all? You get to see the most amazing brand shoes, the most unique places because they choose to improve their picture quality and wardrobe. I think that this gets you partially in this after all: seing girls who have managed to become trend-setters and who were helped by their readers to have the most breathtaking opportunities. And it does actually make sense because, for me, a picture does worth a thousand words.
I wish I was able to identify the source- found of TUMBLR
I really felt like sharing this perspective with you, my dear readers, because it seemed beyond amazing to be able to proof , with the help of actual theories that Sometimes hitting the bottom can be the best thing!

PS: I need to analyse the ballance between pictures and writing on a fashion blog on a future post.
PPS: Hope you are not having an head ache :)
PPPS: This applies to average fashion blogs only, not street style because of course their only goal is to portray the most amazing looks and all,and that can be done by writing!

    Friends will be friends

  • As  you all may have noticed, I usually like to talk a lot about life issues or challenges you sometimes confront as a blogger, because I feel many people are in the same situation.

So, what do people around you think when you decide to start a fashion blog? I must admit I was quite reserved at first, but  my friends and family turned out to be very supportive, so this is one of the many reasons I enjoy doing this.

Let's take as an example today. Today was a beautiful day and I decided to wear my new dress (the one I spend a FORTUNE on) from Orsay for a walk. The thing is I'm really obsessed with long skirts and maxi dresses at the moment, I bought in only one week 3 skirts and 2 dresses (including a lovely one from Asos) . What I really love about this one is that it has such a boheme allure, a little romantic and feminine at the same time.

Of course I had to post the outfit so my friends really helped me a lot -except the part with the ahem....special effects-. Therefore, don't be worried if you see some blured arm or a whole background. It was them :)

Take a look at what I was wearing:
    Dress: Orsay
    Bracelets: Accesorize
    Bag: Accesorize
    Jacket: Stradivarius
    Sandals: Broadway NYC

    Say yes to the dress!

  • I guess my post about lace was much of a feeling. I can't really explain why I felt like writing it just a day before the royal wedding because I got that idea such a long time ago...but it was just a lovely coincidence I guess.

I have to write about the royal wedding here, because I'm such a dreamer, head in clouds and I was one of those girls who were just waiting to see Kate's dress and the kiss, of course!!! Though, I'm not gonna be the 1th million person who says that princess Beatrice's hat was a total moose look-alike, or that Harry's on and off girlfriend's dress by Alberta Ferretti was such a disapointing pick, why Victoria Beckham shinned but that she shouldn't have dressed as it was a funeral, nor that Princess Letizia of Spain was a total sweetheart because that's have been talked about a lot in these last days.

Kate's pick was flawless, I'm not in the team who says "too impersonal, too much of a Grace Kelly style" because I felt it really represented her style, mood  plus I really really love Sarah Burton!
It was just so classy, feminine and simply perfect!

The bride's dress is such an important thing for every woman, I think I saw my dream dress when I was 13 in "Bride Wars", worn by Kate Hudson. Doesn't specifically represents me, but I remember that I was so fascinated as I was watching the movie with one of my dearest friends. Vera Wang creation, of course. Ah....feels so right to dream sometimes...

PS: I got a Formspring page now! Feel free to ask me anything!

    Dream BIG!

  • “Really great people make you feel that you, too, can become great.”

    Mark Twain

I constantly look and admire the fashionable people all around the blogosphere. One by one, they started with not many labelled clothes but now their passion and their style has been rewarded. Latest trends, latest shows, being a successful blogger and having a little luck gives you this pretty power and I really admire them from the deep of my heart for being able to achieve this!
But then there are fashion bloggers like me. Freshmen. I dream high, I get inspired by the people that had an amazing impact and revolutionized the fashion industry, and they're one of the reasons I keep doing this, because they're the constant reminder that some will succeed!
Then it would be the OBSESSION itself. How does your heart beats when you hear Anna Dello Russo has over 4000 pairs of shoes? My first thought was something like "When did she start to collect them? If I were in her house, would I get to see 2002 Prada shoes?" I want to say all my oppinions out loud, about models, editorials, magazines, JUST EVERYTHING. It's such a creative world, the fashion world and it gives me hope, inspiration and strenght to go on!My outfits speak,  I dream pieces esembled toghether that would make a statement, I try to picture how is the life of fashion editors or streetstyle photographers.
Let's not forget the feedback! It doesn't necessarilly feeds my ego, it assures me I made the right decission sharing my life online, offering entire hours of my life to make this right. Can you imagine that Alix (CherryBlossomGirl)'s blog was seen by Karl Lagerfeld and since then she is invited to Chanel shows?

I feel motivated and blogging gives me this energy, strenght, so I won't give up! Some inspirational photos:
